Johannes Birringer
Dr., choreographer and artistic director of AlienNation Co., a multimedia ensemble based in Houston (www.aliennationcompany.com). He has created numerous dance-theatre works, videos, digital media installations and site-specific performances in collaboration with artists in Europe, the Americas, China, and Japan. Recent productions include the digital oratorio Corpo, Carne e Espírito, premiered in Brasil at FIT Theatre Festival (2008); Suna no Onna (2007-08), and the choreographic installation Ukiyo [Moveable Worlds], premiered at London’s Sadler’s Wells in 2010. He has taught performance studies at Yale University, University of Texas-Dallas, Rice University, Northwestern University and Giessen Institute of Applied Theatre Science; from 1999 to 2003 he created the new Dance & Technology MFA at Ohio State University. He has numerous publications on performance and new media; books include Theatre Theory Postmodernism (1989), Media and Performance (1998), Performance on the Edge (2000), and Performance, Technology, and Science (2008). In 2005 he edited the first book on dance and neuroscience with Josephine Fenger (Tanz im Kopf/Dance and Cognition). As co-founder of ADaPT (Association for Dance and Performance Telematics), he developed a number of online performances; in 2003 he founded the Interaktionslabor (http://interaktionslabor.de), initiating sustainable research into interactive systems and real-time theatrical processes. Currently he is Professor of Performance Technologies at Brunel University in London, where he directs the Design and Performance Lab (www.brunel.ac.uk/dap).

Josephine Fenger
Dr., arbeitete nach einer Ausbildung in Klassischem und Modernem Tanz als Balletttänzerin in Südamerika. Sie studierte Publizistik und Theaterwissenschaft an der Freien Universität Berlin und promovierte am Fachbereich Kulturwissenschaften der Universität Bremen; ihre Dissertation diskutiert Aspekte der Analyse von Theatertanz und den Einfluss zeitgenössischer ästhetischer Theorien auf Theatertanz und Tanzanalyse. Mit Prof. Dr. Johannes Birringer (Brunel University, London) gab sie das GTF-Jahrbuch “Tanz im Kopf/Dance and Cognition” (2005) heraus, zu weiteren Beiträgen im Bereich Tanzforschung zählen „Welcher Tanz? Richard Wagners Frage nach dem Tanz der Zukunft“ (in: Jahrbuch Tanzforschung 9, Wilhelmshaven 1998), „Methoden, Mythos, Metanarration“ (in: Tanz. Theorie. Text. Gabriele Klein & Christa Zipprich (Hg.), Münster 2002), „Pavlova Enterprise. Reisen in Metropolen und Provinzen Lateinamerikas“ (in: Hardt, Yvonne & Kirsten Maar (Hg.): Tanz – Metropole – Provinz. Münster 2007) und »Erinnerungsstrukturen oder Welcome to Dancylvania: Leitmotive im Tanztheater vom Romantischen Ballett bis zum Konzepttanz«. In: Betzwieser, Thomas et al. (Hg.): Tanz im Musiktheater – Tanz als Musiktheater. Thurnauer Schriften zum Musiktheater Bd. 22, Würzburg 2009. Ihr Buch “Auftritt der Schatten” ist 2009 in der Reihe AESTHETICA THEATRALIA (Monika Woitas & Guido Hiß (Hg.) im epodium Verlag (München) erschienen.
